Fear of dogs (cynophobia)
A dog bounding up in the park, a bark behind a gate, a friend’s dog that jumps up. With a fear of dogs, ordinary walks and visits can feel risky.
What it feels like
- Crossing the road to avoid dogs
- Panic when a dog barks or runs towards you
- Avoiding friends or family who have dogs
Real client stories
Common questions
Where does it come from?
Many people can point to a bite, being knocked over or being chased as a child. Others picked it up from a parent’s fear.
How do sessions work?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to dogs. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
What if I have been bitten?
That’s very common, and it’s something we work with directly. Being bitten makes the fear understandable. It doesn’t make it permanent.
