Fear of buttons (koumpounophobia)
A fear of buttons surprises people who don’t have it. For those who do, it can affect what they wear, what they touch and even what they can look at.
What it feels like
- Avoiding clothes with buttons
- Disgust or anxiety at loose buttons
- Discomfort seeing buttons on other people
Common questions
Where does it come from?
Often a childhood moment, like choking on a button or a fixation on a loose one. Disgust is often a bigger part of it than fear.
How do sessions work?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to buttons. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
