This notice explains what personal information Phobia Guru collects, why, where it goes and what your rights are. We have kept it short and in plain English.
Last updated: 14 October 2026.
Who we are
Phobia Guru (phobiaguru.com) is run by Digital Alchemy FZ-LLC, the company behind Adam Cox’s hypnotherapy work. For anything to do with your personal information, email adam@adamcox.co.uk and Adam will reply personally.
The short version
- The phobia tests and quizzes run in your browser. Your answers are not saved or sent anywhere unless you ask us to email you your results.
- If you ask for your results and tips by email, we use your first name, email address, which test you took and your result to send you that email.
- A phobia result counts as information about your health, so we only keep it with your clear permission, and you can withdraw that at any time.
- We never sell your information or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
What we collect and why
1. Phobia tests and quizzes
When you take a phobia test or quiz, your answers and score stay on your own device. Nothing is sent to us, and nothing is kept once you leave the page. If you use the share buttons, the text you share goes to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or Facebook), not to us.
2. Your results and tips by email
After a phobia test you can ask us to email you your result with tips for your fear. If you do, we collect:
- your first name and email address
- the test you took, your score and your result band (for example “Strong phobia”)
- the date and time you asked, and the wording you agreed to
We use this to send you your results email straight away. Because a phobia result is information about your health, we only collect it with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.
There is a second, separate box if you would also like occasional emails from Adam with advice and offers. That one is optional. If you tick it, we add your details to our email system (Systeme.io) with labels showing which test you took and your result band, so the emails we send you are relevant to your fear. If you leave it unticked, you only get your results email and we do not add you to any mailing list.
3. Bookings and payments
Consultations, sessions and courses are booked and paid for on our booking pages (courses.adamcox.co.uk and go.phobiaguru.com), which run on Systeme.io. We receive your name, contact details and what you bought. Card payments are handled by the payment provider. We never see or store your card number.
4. Downloads from The Hypnotist’s Store
Hypnosis downloads are sold through our Shopify stores. Shopify handles those orders under its own privacy notice.
5. Emails you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you. Please do not send detailed medical information by email.
6. Website logs
Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working.
Cookies and similar technology
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
- Light or dark mode: if you use the switch at the top of the page, your choice is saved in your browser so the site remembers it. This is not sent to us.
- YouTube videos: some pages show videos hosted on YouTube. YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies when you view or play these videos. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
- If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this notice and ask for your permission first.
Our legal basis
- Results and tips by email: your explicit consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a)).
- Occasional advice and offers by email: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Bookings and payments: to provide the service you asked for (contract), and to meet our legal and accounting duties.
- Website security and logs: our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website.
Who handles your information for us
We use a small number of trusted services to run the site. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Systeme.io: email list, emails and booking pages
- Google Workspace: our email account, which sends your results email
- Hostinger: hosting for this website and for our automation system, which passes your form details to Systeme.io and sends your results email
- Cloudflare: domain and website traffic services
- Shopify: hypnosis download stores
- Payment providers on our booking pages
Some of these companies store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or UK adequacy decisions.
How long we keep it
- Test answers: not kept at all.
- Results email only: we do not keep your details after sending it, apart from a copy of the email in our sent mail.
- If you also asked for occasional emails: kept in our email system until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. If you have not opened any of our emails for two years, we delete your details.
- Our automation system keeps a working record of each form for up to 30 days, then deletes it automatically.
- Booking and payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and send you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your information
- stop using your information, or stop sending you emails
- send your information to you or another organisation in a usable format
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. To use any of your other rights, email adam@adamcox.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), the UK data protection regulator.
Children
Phobia Guru is for adults. If you are under 18, please do not send us your details. A parent or carer is welcome to contact us instead.
Your health
The tests on this site are a guide, not a diagnosis. Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical care. If you are worried about your health, please speak to your GP.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email address, we will tell you.
