Fear of being stared at (scopophobia)
A fear of being stared at can show up on public transport, in meetings, in queues or on a walk down a busy street. It can make you feel exposed, and it can be helped.
What it feels like
- Feeling exposed when people glance your way
- Avoiding eye contact or crowded places
- Wondering what others are thinking about you
Common questions
Is this the same as social anxiety?
It is often part of social anxiety. Some people feel it mainly when strangers look at them, others in groups or on camera. Either way, the feeling of being watched can be eased.
How can you help?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to the thing you fear, so the old alarm stops going off. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
