Fear of hospitals (nosocomephobia)

A fear of hospitals can stop you having treatment, visiting someone you love, or being there for a birth or an operation.

What it feels like

  • Dread at the smell, sounds or corridors of a hospital
  • Avoiding visits, even to family
  • Putting off treatment or tests

Common questions

Where does it come from?

Often linked to a difficult time in hospital, your own or someone else’s, or to a loss. Some people also fear catching an illness there.

How do sessions work?

I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to hospitals. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.

I need to go into hospital soon. Can you help in time?

Let me know the date. Many clients find one 90 minute session helps them get through a visit or procedure they’ve been dreading.
