Fear of injury (traumatophobia)
A fear of injury can show up in sport, at work, on stairs, in the kitchen or any place you could get hurt. It can make you cautious about ordinary things, and it can be helped.
What it feels like
- Avoiding sport, ladders or anything risky
- Worrying about accidents in everyday tasks
- Feeling faint at the thought of getting hurt
Please note: If you have a current injury or health worry, please get it checked by your GP first.
Common questions
Is this linked to fear of blood and needles?
It can be. It sits in the same group as fear of blood, injections and injury, and some people have more than one. Each can be worked on separately.
How can you help?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to the thing you fear, so the old alarm stops going off. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
