Fear of intimacy (aphenphosmphobia)
A fear of intimacy can be about physical closeness, emotional closeness, or both. It can affect relationships even when you care deeply about the other person.
What it feels like
- Discomfort with touch, hugs or closeness
- Keeping conversations on the surface
- Pulling back when someone gets close
Common questions
Where does it come from?
Often rooted in past relationships, upbringing or a difficult experience. We work with care and at your pace.
How do sessions work?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to closeness. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
