Fear of rain (ombrophobia)
A fear of rain can show up when you hear it on the window, check the forecast or face a walk to the car in a downpour. Thunder, flooding and getting caught out often join in, and it can be helped.
What it feels like
- Checking the weather forecast again and again
- Cancelling plans when rain is expected
- Feeling tense at the sound of rain
Common questions
Is a fear of rain the same as a fear of storms?
Not quite. Some people fear the rain itself, while others fear thunder, lightning or flooding. Pluviophobia is a rarer name for the same kind of fear. Working out exactly what bothers you helps shape the sessions.
How can you help?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to the thing you fear, so the old alarm stops going off. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
