Fear of being sick (emetophobia)
Emetophobia is one of the most common phobias I see. It can affect what you eat, where you go and how you feel whenever someone nearby is unwell.
What it feels like
- Avoiding certain foods, restaurants or alcohol
- Worry when someone nearby feels ill
- Feeling sick with anxiety, which feeds the fear
Common questions
Where does it come from?
Often a bad experience of being sick as a child, or seeing someone else being sick. Feeling queasy with anxiety can then keep the fear going.
How do sessions work?
I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to being sick. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
