Fear of work (ergophobia)

A fear of work can show up as dread on Sunday evenings, a knot in the stomach on the commute, or panic about meetings, deadlines and being judged on your performance. It is stressful, but it can be helped.

What it feels like

  • Feeling dread before the working week
  • Putting off tasks and avoiding the workplace
  • Worrying you will be judged or found out

Common questions

Is this just a dislike of my job?

Not necessarily. Disliking a job is about the job itself, while a phobia brings strong anxiety that follows you from one workplace to the next. If the fear feels out of proportion to what is actually happening, it is worth working on.

How can you help?

I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to the thing you fear, so the old alarm stops going off. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
