Fear of worms (helminthophobia)

A fear of worms can show up in the garden, after rain, on fishing trips or when thinking about parasites. Wriggling movement and the thought of touching one are common triggers. It can be helped.

What it feels like

  • Avoiding gardens, soil and wet pavements
  • Feeling sick at the sight of wriggling
  • Worrying about parasites or worms in food

Common questions

Does this include worms inside the body?

For some people, yes. The fear can be about earthworms in the garden, about parasitic worms, or both. We work out which it is for you and focus on that.

How can you help?

I use hypnotherapy and NLP to change how your mind responds to the thing you fear, so the old alarm stops going off. Sessions are one to one over Zoom, and you get a recording of the hypnosis to listen to afterwards.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice a real difference after one 90 minute session. If the fear goes back a long way, three sessions gives us room to make the change stick.
